PLAGIARISM POLICY

 

To treat a case of plagiarism, the Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Guatemala follows the guidelines included in the organizational chart of the International Committee of Ethics in Scientific Publication – COPE

In case of possible plagiarism in a published article:

  • The person who warns us of a situation of plagiarism will be informed of the process to be followed.
  • Articles are compared to check the degree of copying.
  • All the Editors of the Medical Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Guatemala, will be informed and will be asked for their comments in this regard.
  • The complaining author of the article in question will be sent documentary evidence of the plagiarism case and will be asked for a response.

If the perpetrators are found guilty of plagiarism

  • The publisher of the journal in which the original plagiarized article was published and the authors of the plagiarized article will be informed
  • The Medical Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Guatemala will publish an official retraction of the work.
  • The online version of the article of the Medical Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Guatemala will be withdrawn.
  • The Medical Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Guatemala will not publish any other article of the authors involved in the plagiarism for a term of 5 years.
