Abstract

A 15-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis is presented. The patient received several treatments, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, immunotherapy with steroids and replacement with immunoglobulins, without having satisfactory results, during which time he had two myasthenic crises. Video thoracoscopic thymectomy was performed with good postoperative results. Therefore, thymectomy should be considered as a surgical treatment for myasthenia gravis when medical treatment fails.
